Outdoor Speaker Design
Surface-Mount speakers.
Weather-ready cabinets mount to walls, beams, posts and pergolas, giving the system useful control over position, direction and output—from relaxed everyday listening to serious outdoor performance.
Visible by design
Flexible placement.
Controlled coverage.
Weather-ready cabinets mount to walls, beams, posts and pergolas. An adjustable bracket directs the speaker toward the listening area, making Surface-Mount one of the most adaptable forms in Outdoor Sound.

Placement shapes
the result.
The mounting surface, aiming angle, cabinet scale and exposure rating work together. Each choice changes how naturally the speaker fits the property and how evenly it performs.
Structure
Start with a surface that can carry the system.
The bracket and fasteners transfer weight, vibration and weather loads into the structure. A strong location also preserves clean aiming and a practical cable path.
Complete Surface-Mount Installations
The property remains
the main photograph.
Wide project views keep the architecture, mounting locations, gathering areas and finished atmosphere together. The cabinets support the experience without taking over the property.
Where Surface-Mount Belongs
One cabinet form.
Many outdoor roles.
Useful structure and clear aiming make Surface-Mount speakers a natural fit across relaxed residential rooms, open recreation areas and demanding hospitality spaces.
Direct sound from the structure toward dining, seating and everyday gathering areas.
Use posts, beams and finished walls to support focused entertainment zones.
Scale output and spacing for longer distances, ambient noise and moving listeners.
Create controlled distributed coverage across restaurants, clubs and gathering spaces.
The Complete System
The cabinet is only
one part of the result.
Surface-Mount speakers become a system through careful spacing, outdoor bass, clean amplification, protected wiring and final aiming at the property.
Framing, masonry, brackets and fasteners carry the enclosure securely through weather and vibration.
Each cabinet receives a useful zone so coverage overlaps naturally without unnecessary spill.
Dedicated subwoofers restore the weight and fullness open air removes from music.
Amplification and DSP match the speaker quantity, listening levels and required system control.
Routes, cable type, drip loops and terminations are planned for the real surfaces and exposure.
Final aiming, level balance and verification make the finished installation feel effortless.

Surface-Mount—or another
speaker design?
Surface-Mount models are the flexible generalists of Outdoor Sound. The best choice depends on the architecture, landscape, listening distance and desired visual presence.
| Design decision | Surface-Mount | Architectural | Landscape | Bollard |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Visual approach | Finished cabinet on a bracket | Flush grille in the structure | Compact fixture in the landscape | Intentional vertical form |
| Aiming | High bracket flexibility | Defined by installed orientation | Highly aimable near the listeners | Broad model-dependent pattern |
| Mounting need | Secure wall, beam or post | Suitable ceiling or wall cavity | Stable soil or hardscape edge | Stable base or footing |
| Best reason to choose | Adaptable placement and output | Lowest architectural profile | Discreet layered coverage | Wide coverage with design presence |
The Next Direction
Plan accurately.
Listen confidently.
WOS can develop the property-specific direction first, then demonstrate selected products in the actual yard before the final system becomes part of the property.

Coverage, placement, wire routes, surfaces, bass and installation conditions are developed around the actual property.

Surface-Mount Outdoor Sound
Aim the coverage.
Keep the property first.
Mount it where sound
needs to go.
Surface-mount speakers use a weather-ready cabinet and adjustable bracket to put sound on walls, posts, pergolas and other structures. Their strength is flexibility: choose the position, aim the coverage and scale the speaker to the room.

Visible by design.
Flexible by nature.
Surface-mount speakers place the drivers in a sealed or weather-resistant cabinet attached to a bracket. The bracket allows the enclosure to rotate or tilt so the speaker can direct energy toward the listening area instead of simply firing from the building.
Cabinet size influences output and low-frequency extension, while mounting height, aiming and spacing determine coverage. White and dark finishes can coordinate with trim, masonry or beams, and some systems support conventional low-impedance wiring while others are built for larger distributed systems.

the finished system.
Hover or select a control to understand the choices that determine appearance, coverage, performance and long-term reliability.

Start with a surface that can carry the system.
The bracket and fasteners transfer weight, vibration and weather loads into the structure. The best location provides solid attachment, a clean cable path and a useful relationship to the listeners.
- Confirm the substrate and hidden structure
- Use corrosion-conscious hardware
- Leave clearance for the bracket’s full movement
A practical answer for
almost any built surface.
Surface-mount speakers adapt easily when walls, beams and posts can place the cabinet at a useful height and angle.
Patios & Decks
Aim sound from the home toward seating without occupying floor or garden space.
Pergolas & Kitchens
Use posts and beams to support targeted dining, cooking and television zones.
Pools & Recreation
Reach open activity areas with cabinets selected for distance, noise and exposure.
Commercial & Hospitality
Create durable distributed coverage across restaurants, clubs and gathering spaces.
Mounting and aiming
change the result.

Surface-Mount—or another
outdoor speaker?
Surface-mount models are the flexible generalists of Outdoor Sound. Compare them with more integrated or ground-level approaches before choosing.
| Decision | Surface-Mount | Architectural | Landscape | Bollard |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Visual approach | Finished cabinet on bracket | Flush grille in ceiling or wall | Small garden fixture | Intentional vertical form |
| Aiming | High bracket flexibility | Fixed by installed orientation | Highly aimable near the ground | Model-dependent broad pattern |
| Mounting need | Secure wall, beam or post | Suitable ceiling or wall cavity | Stable soil or hardscape edge | Stable base or footing |
| Best reason to choose | Adaptable placement and output | Lowest architectural profile | Discreet layered coverage | Broad coverage with design presence |
Exact coverage, bass response, impedance and weather rating vary by model. WOS matches the product to the property rather than choosing by appearance alone.
The invisible details
protect the result.
A strong cabinet still depends on the bracket, fasteners, cable and final aiming that support it.
Fasten into appropriate framing, masonry or blocking—not finish material alone.
Use manufacturer hardware and corrosion-conscious anchors for the location.
Keep water from following the cable toward the connection point.
Set the bracket after the listening positions and speaker roles are confirmed.
Match quantity, impedance or transformer taps to the amplifier design.
Leave room to adjust, inspect and remove the speaker later.
